SRINAGAR, DECEMBER 07 (KNO) : Terming youth an engine which can propel societies forward, Minister for Information Technology, Technical Education and Youth Services & Sports Imran Raza Ansari today advocated that youth be exposed to different cultures to create a platform for the exchange of ideas. He made these remarks while inaugurating the inter-district football tournament which is being organized by CRPF. Minister said that "Youth are an engine to take the vehicle of family, society or nation forward. Youth are a great promise to each nation and additional efforts need to be made to expose them to their immediate surroundings and realities," he said. To exploit the potential of youth, he advised parents and sports associations to "give way to youth to express, to develop skills, to build competency and to gain confidence, because investment in youth is insurance for future," he added. Minister praised the CRPF for organizing such type of events in the valley under civic action programme. On the occasion, IG CRPF RavideepSahi said that CRPF is trying to organize extracurricular activities for local youth to develop their overall personality so that they will show their talent in national and international level. A total of eight teams consisting four top teams from Srinagar district, two teams from Budgam district and two teams from Ganderbal district have been selected for this Inter-District tournament which is being conducted at TRC Football field Srinagar from December 7th to December 18th, 2017. Winner team will be rewarded with Rs 25000 and runner up with Rs 20,000. Further, top two teams of Srinagar, Budgam and Ganderbal will be taken to “Bharat Darshan” to coastal areas of Cochin, Goa and Andaman& Nicobar Island to understand different cultures besides they will also play friendly matches with the local football teams there. Meanwhile, Minister felicitated Sheikh Umer and Huzaib Yaqoob who had won Bronze medals at recently held International Taekwondo Championship at Bangkok, Thailand. DC Srinagar Syed Abid Rasheed Shah, Divisional Sports Officer J&K Sports Council, DIG CRPF, Representatives of J&K Football Association and other concerned officers were present on this occasion.(KNO)
